New Hemp Jewelry and the Search for Eco-Friendly Packaging

9So I finally had a full day to bang out some hemp jewelry – the last couple of batches I had were either mushroom necklaces or more complicated stuff, so I added in a batch of the sweet and simple for those of you looking for the understated and cool look. The beads featured are either one of a kind or brand new to the store, so you’ll be getting plenty of eye candy. Click here to see all the new shiny things. :)

The other thing that I’ve been doing is looking for some new eco-friendly packaging. It doesn’t exactly make sense to make a sustainable, eco-friendly piece of jewelry if the packaging is wasteful, after all. The bubble mailers are pretty good on that account, as the outer shell is kraft material which decomposes fairly quickly. It’s just the plastic and paper wrapping I’m using that’s giving me cause for concern. I have finally found a site that does eco-friendly packaging that looks good and doesn’t require me to pay for 1000000 units at once. The company is called Nashville Wraps and it has a line of packaging called Green Way.

So it looks like I’m going to replace my cello bags with compostable, biogradable plastic, organic cotton ribbon, natural fiber organza bags (my favorite discovery) and recycled kraft gift boxes. Yay for new packaging. :D
