First Bead Show

Saturday, July 12, 2008

So the first bead show I’ve ever went to is the Intergalatic Bead Show. I wish I knew where they came up with the Intergalatic part of the name, but all in all it was fun fun fun. I ran right into a guy that had a metric ton of polymer beads in all sorts of fun shapes, along with some reasonably priced lampwork sets. I also picked up a few focals and some mellifori beads from him. I saw plenty of very great beads, although some just don’t work too well with hemp. I was especially impressed with the lampwork artists there. I ended up picking up a strand of opalite, which the seller told me many people try to pass off as moonstone ( but if you look close that it’s too perfect to be moonstone), a beautiful set of Indian bali beads that my boyfriend picked out, African paper beads, and a lampwork focal bead.

Now I’m just waiting on my Shipwreck Beads order for specific necklaces my friends and writing clients are after, and other than that this is what I need to buy to complete starting Phat Hemp all over again:

  • Rotating Display  (counter)
  • Tiered Displays
  • Poly Bags
  • Bubble Mailers
  • Jewelry Tags
  • Order Slips

I also hope that my big hemp order is going to come in soon. I’m dying without my colored hemp, and I can’t make anything right now because I don’t have any hemp without a ton of bunk in it.
