New Hemp Jewelry for 2009

This is a hemp choker that is inspired by the grace and beauty of Victorian collars, with a big flashy purple czech glass cabochon set in vintage brass. It is flanked by swarvoski crystals and woven with high quality black hemp.

This is a bracelet to match the collar, with a wide hemp bracelet and the same swarvoski beads as above.

This is a necklace in my three tier fiber bead style – these three fiber beads are blue, purple, and absolutely lumpy and awesome. The hemp is a smooth brown hemp that looks incredible as well.

This czech glass hemp bracelet is inspired by my love of organic influences and green beauty. These mossy czech glass beads are great to look at, with many different subtle colors along with the brown hemp that flanks and highlights the beads.

This is a two tier fiber bead and mood bead bracelet that is set on rich brown hemp. The fiber beads have light blue, gray, and burgundy accents, and the mood beads flank either side of the bracelet.

This is a very popular bracelet – and once you get a look at those blue beads, it’s no wonder why. The blue lagoon czech glass beads literally pop right out when you look at them – the blue against the black is so striking that you would not believe how great this looks until you see it in person.

This blue, black, and brown necklace is plain hemp, for sure – but this hemp is smooth and waxed, and the combination of colors is a very modern and chic style, while still holding on to the retro roots.

This bracelet design came into existence as a happy accident – the interplay of colors that almost separates out the black and the brown was unexpected, but very cool to see. The red mottled beads add their own accent to the bracelet.

One of my favorite ways of wearing hemp bracelets is to just get as many on at once as possible, making a controlled chaos type of look that is really eye catching. Not all hemp bracelets really lend themselves well to the stacking concept, so I ended up making a specific style in order to make them stack nicely. These ones are made out of 48 lb hemp, which makes it about twice as thick as the typical hemp that I’m using. Right now I have a good 15 or so different types of stackers to mix and match – check them out below, prices range between $10 to $20 per:

So I like to practice what I preach, so this holiday I am making up 8 different gift boxes full of fun handmade stuff. As you can see in the picture, there are four different handmade items in the box - a lip balm by Faerie Made Soaps, a festive holiday soap from Sun Basil Garden, a piece of jewelry from me, and a great soy candle from Ten Digit Creations. Oh and I even got the boxes from an Etsy seller, Lydia Layne.

Black Friday and Holiday Sales at Handmade Etsy Shops

First off, sorry that I’ve been off so much - I am certainly still around, but right now I’m working on a few wholesale account inquiries that have had me tied up and away from the blog here. Secondly, it’s Black Friday and I wanted to let you know about sales a few of my favorite sellers are having over at Etsy. I should have posted this earlier for ya but I was out all day. Let me start things off with Faeriemade Soaps - and let me tell you how this wonderful woman has changed my life. Although this is getting somewhat personal, I really would like you to see how much Etsy has changed my life thanks to the wonderful community there. I suffer from severe shoulder bursistis that gets incredibly, chronically painful in the winter. It gets so bad that I can hardly dress myself, let alone do anything else without being in pain so bad that I want to pass out. Then I order a facial cleansing set off of Faeriemade, and with it she includes a sample of arnica muscle rub. Arnica, I find out later, is a natural flower extract that has anti inflammatory and painkiller attributes - and it has absolutely killed all of the pain I have. I can craft all winter, I can dress myself all winter - I can be absolutely normal all winter and I owe it to her. Although this gets very off track, if you suffer through the type of chronic muscle pain that I did, you should definitely try it out. She’s having a 15% off sale that lasts until December 6th, and everything in her shop is just wonderful and effective at what it does.

Savor, one of my favorite soap sellers, has been putting up incredibly discounted bath and body products periodically throughout the day. Even if you don’t catch a Savor Saver, there is a ton of great things to buy over there.

Ten Digits Creations has a ton of soy candles and bath and body products on their store, and they are offering 10% off of all of it.

Dennis Anderson’s soaps have always held me in thrall, and today he has an entire Black Friday Special section that will get you drooling with all of the fervor of a bargain seeker.

Spatherapy was my first handmade soap love, and they are having all sorts of secret Black Friday deals scattered throughout their shop. I just got their Sweet Fig Compote sugar scrub today, and let me tell you I am feeling absolutely decadent.

Handmade Soap Samplers

As you have probably figured out, I am obsessed with handmade soap - but if you’ve never experienced it, you might want to be like me and go through lots of samplers to find the perfect type of handmade soap for you. Luckily, plenty of my fellow Etsy sellers just so happen to have all sorts of soap samplers. Here are my favorite picks:

Natural Soap Samples from Faerie Made Soaps - I love her and her soaps to death, and this sampler lets you see the quality of her wonderful creations. This sampler allows you to pick 10 .5 oz sample soaps for 7.75.

I Want It All Soap Sampler from Dennis Anderson is another cool one - I really love his soaps, and you have no idea how much I am whoring my tea tree oil soap right now. This is a 7 piece sampler with 1 to 1.5 oz per sample bar for 6.50.

This Relax Soap Sampler from Alchemic Muse just looks so frikkin cool - and everyone can use a bit of relaxation, right? There are four soap samples for 5.50.

Flameworks does it all and then some, but today she’s doing it with a great soap sampler. This one you can choose the scents with you get 5 samples, and they’re around 1 oz each for 5.50.

Red Leaf has always had a neato presentation with their soaps, and they also have a sampler - this one allows you to pick any of the products in their store that you would like to try out. The soap sample looks to include a shaving cube and a soap cube for 3.50.

Yay for BlSoaps and their sampler pack - I’ve lusted after their soaps for quite some time, and they have a sampler which makes me do a happy dance. This one is 4 1oz soap bars for 6.00

Besem has an awesome soap sampler with 6 bars from 1 to 2 oz, and you get to choose your own scents. This one goes for 9.00
